My Approach

Therapy isn't about fixing what's broken.
It's about reclaiming what's been buried.

I believe that every person carries within them the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change — even when that capacity feels distant or obscured by years of stress, grief, anxiety, or relationship strain. My role isn't to direct your journey, but to walk alongside you with genuine curiosity, clinical training, and unwavering respect for your resilience.

Whether you're navigating a life transition, managing the weight of depression or anxiety, or seeking to understand patterns that keep repeating in your relationships, we'll work together to create space for clarity, compassion, and lasting shift.

03 · About

Joanne M. Stevens,
LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Tariffville, Connecticut, providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families. My practice is rooted in the conviction that healing happens within the context of a genuine, trusting relationship — one where you feel seen, challenged, and supported in equal measure.

I draw from an integrative clinical approach, weaving together elements of psychodynamic theory, cognitive-behavioral techniques, attachment-based frameworks, and trauma-informed care. This means our work together is never one-size-fits-all. It's shaped by who you are, what you're navigating, and what kind of change you're ready to make.

I hold my clinical work as both a profession and a calling. The decision to begin therapy is rarely simple, and I honor the courage it takes to reach out. My office is a place where you can set down what you've been carrying — and start figuring out what comes next.

04 · Getting Started

Three steps to
begin your journey

1

Reach Out

Contact me by phone or email to schedule a brief, no-obligation consultation. We'll discuss what's bringing you in and answer any questions you may have about the process.

2

Our First Session

In our initial meeting, we'll explore your history, your concerns, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. This is your space to share as much or as little as feels right.

3

Begin the Work

If we're a good fit, we'll establish a rhythm — weekly or biweekly sessions tailored to your needs. Progress isn't linear, but it is possible, and you won't walk this path alone.

"I came to Joanne feeling completely lost — like I'd tried everything and nothing was working. What I found instead was a space where I could finally breathe, be honest, and start understanding myself in a way I never had before. It changed everything."
